5 Fashion Trends to Embrace this Spring

Whether your busy researching summer holiday destinations or planning a staycation this year, now is a great time to look ahead to the season’s key fashion trends. After all, Spring has “officially” sprung and if there’s anything to lift our spirits during these still quite cold and very wet day’s it’s the prospect of the warmer months ahead.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m all for layering up when necessary but find it doesn’t leave much room for expressing your personal style when your outfits are constantly hidden under a winter coat! And with that in mind here’s what’s hot this coming season.

Business Casual

If your struggling with your office wear, now is the perfect opportunity to make the most of one of this seasons biggest trends.  This seasons work wear is all about relaxed tailoring. Think oversized suiting, long line blazers that fall to the top of your thighs and eased waistlines.

Remember the goal is to create a visual balance with your outfit. So if you fancy embracing this trend pair your suiting with a slim fit blouse or a fitted knit.  And be mindful to ensure the jacket length stops shy of your hips if your bottom heavy.

Rose Prints

Florals are big this season (see my March blog – link below for tips on how to wear them) and none more so than roses. Whether you opt for a one shoulder rouched rosette top or a rose printed summer dress you’ll be smashing this romantic trend.  Be mindful of print size  – your outfit will look better when the pattern or details are worn to scale. And if your struggle to find a print in your colour pallet consider accessories instead.

High Rise Trousers

It’s time to welcome back the high rise! Yay I hear the millennials among us say while doing a merry dance.  The high rise rule can be rolled out across your entire collection of trousers. From jeans and joggers to tailored trousers they are perfect for every occasion including office wear, date nights and days out.

Be sure to invest in a timeless belt to elevate your look (remember a belt must be worn if loops are fitted).  The same colour belt as your trousers will lengthen your legs while the same colour belt as your top will lengthen your body.

Metallics

While we often associate metallic’s with the Christmas party season, golds and silvers are set to be one of the biggest trends of 2024.   It goes without saying this trend lends itself most comfortably to evening wear yet there are plenty of ways to incorporate this trend into your daytime wardrobe.  Think a metallic thread pontelle jumper or strappy toe post sandals.

If wearing near to your face ensure the colour compliments your skin tone.  Gold for the spring season, silver for winter, bronze or rose gold for autumn and pewter for summer.

Sheer White

Sheer fabrics have been on the fashion scene for several seasons and  are a great way to show a little skin without being too revealing.  Giving white a sexy twist this summer the shops are awash with sheer white dresses.  While you may decide to save sporting this trend until your holidays (I’m thinking a beach cover up or satin maxi dress for evenings out), it goes without saying ensure your wear the right underwear and avoid it as a wedding guest.
