Pantone Colour of The Year 2022

Pantone’s colour of the Year 2022, a new periwinkle blue symbolises “a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity”. Pantone describes the colour is a dynamic periwinkle-blue hue with a vivifying violet-red undertones to create the “happiest and warmest of all the blue hues”, said the global colour authority.

According to Pantone, the new colour – called PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri – is a “symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through”.  It also marks the first time Pantone has created an entirely new colour for 2022. Previously, the company would select a colour from its pre-existing archive to be Colour of the Year.

From dresses to pumps and loungewear to nails the colour trend is big for 2022.  While a true periwinkle blue sits best with those in the light summer and spring seasons there are many different hues of this new shade so you can go as pastel or dark as you want making it a great all rounder in any women’s wardrobe this year.

I personally love wearing periwinkle with yellow or coral but if new to wearing the colour teaming it with a neutral is a great (and safe) way to introduce it to your wardrobe – grey’s, oatmeal and navy’s work particularly well.  And if the thought of wearing trousers, shoes or a dress in this fabulous shade feels too much, start by experimenting with a couple of accessories or nail polish in this shade.
