Spring/Summer Trends 2022

With the days getting longer now is a great time to turn our attention to our wardrobes and have a look at the spring summer 2022 trends. While you might still be wearing a jumper as you’re reading this I’m hopeful warmer weather is just around the corner.

So with that in mind, now’s a great time to clue up on the biggest styles, colours and patterns hitting the high street this season.  Here are my top picks;

Statement Trouser Suits

What’s better than a trouser suit? A trouser suit in a statement colour! There are some fab shades to chose from, from pretty pastels to bold pink there’s something for everyone.  Many have padded shoulders (can easily be removed if you’ve already a strong shoulder line) and wide leg trousers – great for office wear and wearing as separates.  The jacket will add an instant pop of colour to any outfit and look great teamed with jeans, a white shirt and wedges while the trousers can be worn with pumps and a sweater for a casual look.

Pleats

From dress to sleeveless tops pleats are everywhere this season.  Remember pleats add volume so great for helping to balance upper and lower body.  A pleated skirt is a versatile piece in any women’s wardrobe and looks fab teamed with your favourite t-shirt and pumps or swap them out for a pair of heels and leather jacket for a glam look.

Maxi Dresses

Midi skirts have been all the rage for some time now but this season see’s a move back into maxis.  I love this trend as it’s an easy to wear piece and much prefer going shorter or longer with hemlines rather than in the middle which is a difficult length to wear even if you’ve amazing pins!  What’s more extreme lengths are much easier to work with when balancing proportions.  This season expect to see simple tube styles over fuller, tiered cuts.

Colours

When picking out an outfit, colour is always the first thing that grabs my attention.  Nailing shades that suit your complexion is key and can completely change the look of an outfit.  While pastels continue to been seen on the High Street the top colour trends for this season are all as bright as can be!  Vibrant lime and butter yellow sparks some serious joy while hot pink, and cerulean blue are great worn with black or white to create high contrast.

Perfect Prints

Checks, tie dye, stripes and animal print are all big this season.

While tie dye used to be reserved for festival goers it’s everywhere on the High Street and available in hoodies through to evening dresses.  Checks and stripes have been around forever but still hugely versatile.  Remember vertical lines lengthen and narrow while horizontal lines shorten and widen and checks are better suited to angular bodylines.

As with checks and stripes, animal print continues to be a key print this season with tiger stripes making an appearance on the run way time and time again.  If this print feels too much to embrace top to toe and you’d prefer to play it safe give try in your accessories first.

What trends will you be embracing this season?
