How to Rock the Pantone Colour of the Year 2019

Every December Pantone announce their new Colour of the Year and being an avid lover of colour I’m always excited to find out what’s been chosen!  This year the Pantone Colour is Living Coral and is described as  “an animated, life-affirming shade of orange, with golden undertones.”

Youthful, exciting, fresh, bubbly and energetic are words which spring to mind when I think of Living Coral.  It looks fantastic worn with beige, camel, navy and tan and adds a splash of optimism to any outfit.  Alternatively if you’re more confident with mixing colours try wearing it with turquoise, purple or yellow for a lively and balanced composition.

Coral is one of my favourite colours and features heavily in my wardrobe – below are a few of my favourite combinations.

If the colour is a little bolder than you’re used to wearing start by introducing it as an accent colour or in pattern.  Alternatively add a pop of colour to your outfit with coral accessories.  A statement bag or earrings in coral will really elevate your fashion this year, is a great way to add a touch of colour to your outfit and will go a long way to brightening up a darker outfit.  Coral looks fab with browns, gold and ivory, hence it’s great potential when it comes to make-up.

For the guys out there if you want to wear the colour prominently and proudly, opt for a coral blazer or for a more relaxed look team a team a soft coral polo shirt with chino’s or jeans.  If you’d prefer to wear Living Coral in a more understated way, try a cashmere scarf or a brightly patterned coral tie, all of which will add a burst of personality to any ensemble!
